International year of cooperatives

On June 19, 2024, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the resolution proclaiming 2025 the International Year of Cooperatives, under the slogan “Cooperatives build a better world”.

The French cooperative movement reaffirms its cooperative identity in its Manifesto, which is based on the cooperative principles of economic democracy, value sharing, cooperation, mutual aid and inclusiveness, and corporate social and environmental responsibility.

“Cooperatives demonstrate the importance of coming together to find solutions to global challenges… Cooperatives are the driving force behind development, fighting poverty and social exclusion, strengthening food security, supporting local entrepreneurs in markets, and much more… Your joint efforts are essential as our world faces complex challenges”, Antonio Guterres , UN Secretary-General.
